People have been clamoring for a true dark mode in OS X, now macOS, for a long time citing the comfortable and uniform look of Ubuntu and also the adoption of products like Photoshop, Final Cut Pro and others of an easy on the eyes dark GUI. I used to use software by a company called Avid that was 32 bit for years. and we had some pretty crappy policies in place one of them for 400 years that were not great. I'm going to take this to the extreme but just because something's been in place for a "long" time doesn't make it great or even good. Apart from the new screenshot mechanism everything else is. Other than that it’s not like Mojave has a lot of cool stuff. If the UI blinds you, you need to lower the brightness, and possibly use night shift, because it’s perfectly fine.

I previously was using the 15,1 SMBIOS and now 18,3 but things remain the same. I've also looked into Display Overrides and have added in the appropriate DisplayVendorID-1e6d and DisplayProductID-76e4 with the correct matching values from the EDID file and that didn't change anything. I've tried with and without my patched DSDT for my graphics card and 75Hz is still not an option. I have also tried my luck a few times with SwitchResX but I can only get it to 67Hz which doesn't make sense to me when it can run fine on Windows 10 at 75Hz. The system scans possible resolutions to see what works. From my poking around I think the horizontal resolution is the problem. I never tried installing it myself because I’m not a fan of modifying the system on a Mac, especially one I don’t own. I tried using carpentryplus25's guide here but I did not ending up needing to make any changes as the Orinoco FB is a perfect match for my graphics card. SwitchResX, in particular, offers tons of additional functionality for setting up custom resolutions and refresh rates, but both of these apps can get you in and out. Reports I read stated that while you can select it with SwitchResX it was scaled. I have an AMD Sapphire Nitro RX570 graphics card using the Orinoco Framebuffer. I find 24fps is inadequate for some movies and with HDMI on a Mac Pro (which supports HDMI 1.4, not the faster 2.0) you can increase the framing rated from.
